# CAGR（年平均成長率）

> CAGR（年平均成長率）とは、ある期間において開始値を終了値へ到達させる一定の年率です。幾何平均であるため、各年リターンの単純平均とは異なります。+50%の年に−50%の年が続くと算術平均は0%ですが、CAGRは−13.4%となり、口座が実際に経験したのは後者の数値です。

## 計算方法

CAGR = (Ending value ÷ Beginning value)^(1 ÷ Years) − 1

## 計算例

1万ドルが10年で26,533ドルへ → (26,533 ÷ 10,000)^(1/10) − 1 = CAGR 10.3%。

## 損失も複利で効くから幾何平均

算術平均は数値の集合を、幾何平均はその中を通る経路を記述します。各年のリターンは前年が残した残高に対して働くため、大きな損失はその後のすべての複利が乗る土台を恒久的に縮めます。CAGRはこれを捉えますが、年率の平均は捉えません。

## 道中については何も語らない

CAGRが同じ20%の二つの戦略でも、最大ドローダウンは3倍、回復期間は数年の差になり得ます。CAGRは両端点の要約であり、その間にあるものすべてに対して盲目です。そして、戦略を持ち続けられるかを決めるのは、まさにその間の部分です。

## よくある誤読

CAGRは、期間中に入金があった口座に対してもしばしば提示され、貯蓄が投資リターンとして静かに数えられます。積立による増加と運用成績による増加は別の主張であり、両者を合算すると入金額の分だけ数値が膨らみます。
